Tully & Holland Advises Mariner Seafood in its sale to True North Seafood

Boston, MA - Tully & Holland, Inc. is pleased to announce it represented Mariner Seafood in the sale of its assets to True North Seafood, the New Brunswick, Canada-based processing division of Cooke, Inc. Through this acquisition, Cooke, Inc. will gain access to the number-one value fishing port in the nation.

New Bedford, MA-based Mariner Seafood was founded in 2001 and processes more than 8,000 metric tons of cod, scallops, haddock, salmon, and shrimp annually. In addition, Mariner also offers premium branded products under its MarSelect and GO WILD brands. These offerings significantly broadened Mariner’s retail exposure which was supported by a loyal network of suppliers and U.S. and Canadian customers.

With this acquisition, True North, the processing division and flagship brand of family-owned New Brunswick, Canada, Cooke, Inc., will add to its processing capabilities and brand portfolio. Glenn Cooke, CEO of Cooke Inc. “We now have over 4,000 Cooke employees in 22 U.S. states, and we will continue to invest and grow our New Bedford processing operations to supply our customers with healthy, top quality True North Seafood products.”

Mariner Seafood, an international fresh and frozen seafood company based in New Bedford, MA, specializes in the processing of a broad range of seafoods from its state-of-the-art facilities. It’s recent investment to scale up VSP tray production capacity allowed for the offering of premium branded products. The company distributes its product to over 100 different customers throughout the U.S. and Canada.
