Al has spent more than three decades in the beverage business working and consulting for such Fortune 500 companies as Pepsi Cola (Vice-President), Coca-Cola USA, A& W Beverages (CEO), Kendall-Jackson (CFO), Cadbury-Schweppes, Perrier and Boston Beer (Sam Adams) (COO/CFO/Director). His various marketing and finance responsibilities led to general management positions in both large and small beverage companies, both domestically and internationally. Most recently, Al has worked as a consultant to smaller companies helping them to maximize their value.

Al started his career in beverages as a product manager at General Foods, where he learned the warehouse distribution system. Subsequently he became Vice President Marketing Programs at Pepsi-Cola, followed by a tour as a Group Sales Manager for Pepsi-Cola Bottling Group, managing DSD operations in northeast markets. During that time Pepsi passed Coke as the leading cola brand in the grocery channel.

Al then joined United (Chiquita) Brands as Group Vice-President/CEO of A&W Beverages, and other consumer product companies owned by United Brands. During his tenure, A & W Beverages grew from a loss position to a realized market value of $55 million. For United Brands he was, in addition, de-facto VP Corporate Marketing, traveling both Central America and the United Kingdom and Europe.

Subsequently, Al spent ten years as an independent consultant with clients such as Coca-Cola USA, Suntory, Cadbury-Schweppes and Perrier, where he undertook a variety of assignments, including acquisition work. As the CSD industry matured, he specialized in the bottled water business.

In 1989, Al joined The Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams) as COO, CFO and Director of the then $20 million company. After a ten fold growth he took the Company public on the NYSE with an unusual direct-to-the-consumer offer which pre-dated the now revitalized Dutch Auction system. In 1999, Al joined Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates as CFO and a key member of the M&A team which identified a market value for the Company in excess of $1billion.

Returning to his home in Boston in 2001, Al has provided financial consulting for small companies. Al joined Tully & Holland, Inc. in July 2006 in order to establish a beverage industry specialty within the consumer products focus of Tully & Holland.

Al is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School.
